Biography
Rescind is an Alternative/Hard-Rock band with Metal influences from Johannesburg. Rescind was founded in 2014 and consists of five members, Collin Teske(Vocals and Guitar), Myles Hartelmüller(Guitar), Shaun Joyce(Drums), Georgle Leslie (Bass) and Janus Qubb() and is influenced by bands like Alter Bridge, Stained, Tremonti, Slash, Tool, Rise Against and Black Stone Cherry.
Rescind was started as an idea to take the alt. hard rock music scene to a place it hasn’t seen before. We write music and have a good time and aim to spread that mantra to everyone who comes to one of our shows with the hope that at the end of the night they will be left with a smile on their face and a story to tell.
Our goal is to inspire and help build a stronger community of fans and musicians, promoting a friendlier atmosphere, less malicious competition and bringing back the value once placed on musicians. We believe that if bands all supported each other a little more and helped each other to accomplish their goals, we could accomplish great things and strengthen the industry overall.
Vocals & Guitar
Collin Teske
Growing up in a musical family the only place I feel comfortable is on stage with a guitar. Creating a band with my friends that makes not only good music but lifetime friendships and memories has been the goal from a young age and while I didn’t get my first guitar till I was a teenager… I knew this was the instrument for me for years before that.
Some of my main influences include bands such as Alter Bridge, Staind, Seether, Gary Moore and Santana.
Our goal is to inspire and help build a stronger community of fans and musicians, promoting a friendlier atmosphere, less malicious competition and bringing back the value once placed on musicians. We believe that if bands all supported each other a little more and helped each other to accomplish their goals, we could accomplish great things and strengthen the industry overall.
Guitar
Myles Hartelmuller
In 1991 there was a genetic explosion. TADA! Myles Hartelmuller. Myles grew up (but not as much as most people) in a small box in Johannesburg, South Africa.
At the age of 14 or 15, Myles met Heavy Metal, and decided to be awesome! He got a guitar and failed spectacularly until he stopped that, by studying Music Performance and earning a BMus Hons, at the Campus of Performing Arts.
Since then, Myles has played in many bands, including this one, THE BEST ONE! Myles loves rock, metal, jazz, flamenco and anything really wierd. He hopes to make pretty music forever and continue to be awesome and who knows, maybe one day, he will even be able to afford to do music.
Drums
Shaun Joyce
I received my first drumset at the age of 13 and have loved it ever since. Since I have been young I always wanted to play in a band infront of crowds as well as tour the world and inspire people through music.
I’ve never been able to gel well with a band until I joined up with Rescind. We have become like family. We know exactly what sound we want and what we want to achieve through our music as well as our shows.
Being from different backgrounds we all bring our own musical influences into our songs. From our vocalist/guitarists love for hard rock, to our other guitarists love for jazz and flamenco, to my love for post-hardcore and metalcore, we have created a fusion of sound like no other.
We are a family, and we love every bit of what we do.
